One of the most important missions of the World Affairs Council is to promote academic exchanges of students and teachers of Western Massachusetts. By fostering an environment for international learning, it is our hope that we enable our students to become “world-wise” citizens with global-thinking futures.

In addition to our work with the public schools, we develop and present on-going partner programs with various colleges throughout the Western Massachusetts area, including Bay Path College, Elms College, Mount Holyoke College, Springfield College, and Western New England College.

In the past, the Council has also worked with the City of Springfield to organize exchanges with our sister cities and sister schools in Tralee, Ireland; Viterbo, Italy; and Takikawa City, Hokkaido, Japan.

Educators can join the World Affairs Council for the discounted price of $30 by clicking on the Membership page tab above.  If you are on the faculty of a local college that is a corporate member–go to the “Who We Are” tab and then check out the list of “Corporate Members & Sponsors”–you are already a member of the World Affairs Council!  Let us know and we’ll add you to our mailing list.

Membership for high school and undergraduate students is free.  Call or email with your name, address and school and you can start getting updates from us right away.  We also are able to offer students free or discounted admission to many if not all events under certain circumstances so please let us know if you are interested.
