The World Affairs Council of Western Massachusetts serves as the Council on International Visitors, and our volunteers are proud to host guests from around the world through the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program.

Through this program, the Council arranges professional appointments and introductions for world leaders who come to this country as guests of the United States government. These guests represent politics, civil service, the media, education, and the arts, and show a strong potential for leadership in their homelands.
Many of these visits have resulted in lifelong friendships and an on-going sharing of the diverse experiences of our cultures.
Recent International Visitors to Western Massachusetts have come from Hong Kong, Brazil, Palestine, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Uganda, Kazakhstan, Peru, Montenegro, Portugal, Thailand, Afghanistan, Algeria, Iraq, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Kuwait, and Uzbekistan. Areas of interest have included Sustainable Energy, Municipal Administration, Primary and Secondary Education, At-Risk Youth, University Administration, Labor Relations, and Performing Arts Festival Management and Promotion.
